Is there enough information to prove triangle ABC ~ triangle EDC? Justify your answer.
Triangle ABC is similar to triangle EDC.
I think that there is enough information to support the fact that triangle EDC is similar to triangle ABC. So if we look at line ED and line AB in the two connected triangles, we find that line AB is 10 and that line ED is 5. If you put that that in ratio of the smaller triangle to the larger triangle, we have a ratio of 5:10 or 5/10. The second example can be of line BC and line DC. Line BC has 8 and line DC has the measurement of 4. If you put that in ratio we get 4:8 or 4/8. So when we simplify it, we have both halves.
Are they implying that AE is 3 because EC is 3 and they both have a dash through the line? Which would make the proportion 3/6 which is also a half. So then I could prove it with the Side-Side-Side Similarity Postulate?
Yes I think that is correct.
Ok, thanks so much!
