Find X & Y in the parallelogram. :)

OpenStudy (ankit042):

in a parallelogram opposite sides are equal Now you can solve this from here!

OpenStudy (ankit042):

AB=CD and BC=DA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@FilthyMcNasty ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's already a pic up there? Is it the same one ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me make it clearer. |dw:1374996169275:dw| If AB= 2x+y BC = x+2 CD = x + 12 DA = y + 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like that guy said up there: in a parallelogram opposite sides are equal, so: AB=CD & BC=DA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So fill in AB,CD,BC, & DA with their value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep,, so.. AB = CD BC = DA; 12x+y = x+ 12 x + 2 = y+6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x+y = x+ 12 x + 2 = y+6 lol, you made a little mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh right, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, simplify the equations. Add like terms and such.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x+y = x+ 12 x + 2 = y+6 -x -x -2 -2 x+y=12 x=y+4 (y+4) +y=12 2y+4=12 -4 -4 2y=8 y=4 We've found Y. now we can fill in Y in any of the equations to find X: x+y=12 x+(4)=12 x=y+4 x=(4)+4 For both equations x is the same, X=8 x=8 y=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry about yesterday, @FilthyMcNasty . And yes, your equations helped me a lot, Thank you again. :)
