In the year 1998, there were 4.56 × 107 cars in America. The population of America was 2.3 × 106. What was the average number of cars per person in America in 1998? A. 0.5 B. 1.98 C. 5 D. 19.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can anybody please explain how to solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just divide the number of cars by the number of people. I didn't calculate it but I think the correct answer is D, since I guess when you type 107 you mean 10^7 and when you type 106 you mean 10^6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes Sorry that is what i mean. I am not sure though is the answer B or D?

OpenStudy (loser66):

the total of car is \(4.56 * 10^7\) the total of people is \( 2.3*10^6\) the average is \(\dfrac{4.56 *10^7}{2.3 * 10^6}= 19.8\)

Thanks!!!
