If AE = 35, CE = 25, and AB = 30, what is the length of ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (zale101):

what is the length of what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DE . sorry

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Use intersection chord property: EA*EB=EC*ED

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You know the lengths EA,EB and EC, so you can apply the above formula to find ED. (Note that segment lengths mEA and mAE are the same, ...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eb? im so lost

OpenStudy (mathmate):

mAE=35 mAB=30 so what is mBE?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea im really not good at this

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Copy the diagram on paper and mark the distances. Then look at the diagram and see what you can deduce for the length of mBE.
