Which one of these equations is correctly written in Standard Form? 1/4x + y = −6 4x + 3.5y = −6 x + 4y = −24 −4x + y = −24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My thought process right now is keep in mind Ax+By=C because that is standard form. I would eliminate C and D because there has to be a number right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not necessarily my teacher has given me problems where A or B are equal to 1. I'm not sure about this one though, i think there all in standard form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess, I put that into consideration but also read somewhere that standard form usually dosent have a fraction or decimal...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Standard Form for a linear equation in two variables, x and y, is usually given as Ax + By = C where, if at all possible, A, B, and C are integers, and A is non-negative, and, A, B, and C have no common factors other than 1. so based of this definition i found online you can eliminate choices to find your answer. I didn't know this. my teacher used to give me all kinds of numbers not just integers but hey you learn something new every day!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I sort of do, by what your telling me the answer is probably C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! because 1/4 and 3.5 are not integers. so that eliminates a and b leaving C and D. and it cant be D because if at all possible, A is non-negative! good job

Thanks for all the help,. I'll put the listed correct answer as soon I submit this work (online school)

Nevermind people. It doesn't even give you the correct answer. Sorry about that. Hope someone finds this helpful.
