In what ways did important cultural developments affect spoken language in england between 449 and 1485?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1000 years is a long time. The Anglo Saxon invasions of the 5th to 8th Centuries. The Viking raids of 10th Century. Norman Invasion of 1066. The Anglo Saxons made English through an amalgamation of the different dialects that led to a dropping of Gender and simplification of tenses. The Vikings added to this. Then the Normans introduced Norman/French which developed the language into Middle English (Chaucer) that is the fore runner of the Modern English which evolved and keeps evolving till the Tudors (1485) They spoke a language that is fairly recognisable today, and close to Shakespeare.
