Gary is using an indirect method to prove that segment DE is not parallel to segment BC in the triangle ABC shown. He starts with the assumption that segment DE is parallel to segment BC. Which inequality will he use to contradict the assumption? 4:10 ≠ 6:14 4:6 ≠ 6:14 4:10 ≠ 6:8 4:14 ≠ 6:10

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the proportion of sides ..... in some fashion or another 4:6 is to (4+6):(6+8) seems reasonable to me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this could be written a few ways 4:6 = 10:14 4:10 = 6:14 14:6 = 10:4 etc ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is the first option @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

first option agrees with a version of the setup yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its A?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

id pick A
