The following are examples of different types of variables. Which are continuous variables? Check all that apply. A. Weight of an elephant B. Telephone number C. Temperature of a hot pizza D. Number of votes for a candidate E. Speed of a race car
@amistre64
hmmm, do you recall how to tell the difference between discrete and continuous?
Discrete data only take on particular values and no values in between
very good can a persons weight take on "inbetween" values? can a telephone number have "fractions"? etc ...
so A and B ?
define the options for me as what you would consider their values to be continuous or discrete, and then we can refine them better
A is discrete .. right? B is also discrete c. is cont.
D is discrete. E. is cont.
i think..
good try, it has errors, but a good try at least discrete: can be divided into parts, can be assigned a 1-to-1 relationship with the natural number set {1,2,3,4,5,...} A. Weight of an elephant if it can be placed into a scale; it can read any output: continuous B. Telephone number we can count, 1 by 1, all telephone numbers: discrete C. Temperature of a hot pizza a temperature can be any value; continuous D. Number of votes for a candidate we can count each and every vote, 1 by 1; discrete E. Speed of a race car a car can go any speed it wants; continuous
thank you , :)
good luck :)
you were right! :)
it happens occasionally ;) lol
well hey do you mind being right again? i have another one... haha, :)
