Help!!! will give medals:) :) find lengths x and y
|dw:1375211565148:dw|
do I take\[\frac{ 39 }{ x }=\frac{ 52 }{ 40 }\] cross multiply to get x \[\frac{ 52 }{ 40 }=\frac{ y }{ 50 }\] cross multiply to get y???
From the number's you gave multiplying 39*40/52=30 so x should be 30. 52*50/40=Y
y=65
Yep
alright thanks so much for the help
Yep no problem :)
first find y, cross multiply y/52+y = 50/90
u mean \[\frac{ y }{ 52+y }=\frac{ 50 }{ 90 }\] and solve for y....how you get 90 @ivettef365
50 + 40 = 90
ooh ok
when you get value of y, you can solve for x
so y=28?
cross multiply, you have 90(y) = 50 (52 + y) 90y = 2600 + 50y -50y -50y ----------------- 40y = 2600 now divide 2600/40 ???
ooh I messed up on my math so y=65
correct, now to find value of x, you cross multiply again but need to add all 3 numbers so you have 39 / (39+52+65) = x / (x+40+50) which is the same as 39 / 156 = x / x+ 90
Ok I think I got it from here thanks for ur help :)
yw :)
i get 86 for x @ivettef365 is that correct
lets see 156x = 39(x+90) 156x = 39x + 3510 -39x -39x ------------------ 117x = 3510 now just divide 3510/117 = ???
30 i did something wrong in my math thanks again :)
yw :)
