yes they are supplemantery .. which means they equal 180 together

the line FG is twice long as line BC, therefore 2(3.5x+4) = 3(3x+1) +1 solve for x

FG is 1/2 of BC, that is what I meant, that is why you multiply by 2

@ivettef365 I got to this point 3.5x = (1/2)9x. Is it correct? How do I simplify now?

the way I organized is better to simplify 2(3.5x+4) = 3(3x+1) +1 7x + 8 = 9x +3 +1 7x + 8 = 9x + 4 8-4 = 9x - 7x 4 = 2x so x = 4/2
