The triangles are similar because at least 2 angle are the same. Do you see that? Using this information, how is side how is segment BD related to AD? (hint: 1/2)
OpenStudy (ybarrap):
This means that all the the corresponding segments of each triangle are related by some ratio (hint: 1/2). So then the heights should be related and therefor their areas. How would the areas be related if the lengths are 1/2 smaller? (hint: it's not 1/2)
