OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You should recognize an isosceles right triangle. b = 1 and a = 45º This is any eyeball problem. Memorize this one!

i need to show work though

OpenStudy (ivancsc1996):

a is 45° and b is 1. You know a is 45° because the sum of the angles must equate 180 so:\[a+a+90=180=2a+90 \rightarrow a=\frac{ 180-90 }{ 2 }=45\]b is one because of pythagoras theorem:\[\sqrt{2}^2=b^2+b^2=2b^2=2 \rightarrow b=\sqrt{\frac{ 2 }{ 2 }}=1\]

Ok thanks for the help :)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I would argue this one. Recognizing it and writing it down would be considered "showing your work" on this one. Obviously, not everyone agrees with me.
