hmmm what does "explanatory variable" mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it means the higher the latitude, the less day light hours so if i was going to make a guess i would say "explanatory variable: latitude" "response" daylight hours i would not bet more than $6 on it though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the variable on the x axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what it means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well i have to say it is very unclear but i would go with "latitude" as the \(x\) axis and hours of daylight as the \(y\)

sooo what letter?
