The process by which weak nuclear forces in carbon-14 isotopes transform a neutron into a proton while releasing an electron is called alpha decay beta decay relative dating absolute dating I think it is beta decay @genius12

beta decay bro

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

In beta-decay, the atom shoots out an electron. If you think about it, a neutron is the composition of an electron and a proton. That's why it 'neutral'. When an electron is shot, that neutron now becomes a proton and released electron is the beta particle. @watermelon14

Now we can get in to the details of beta-negative/positive decay but I'll leave that for now.

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

yes! Thank very very much!!:)
