@evilmath For your assignment, you will analyze an example of satire. You will first find a current satirical piece and analyze it using the graphic organizer like the one completed for you with the Gulliver’s Travels example. Possible Sources of Satire: •television shows (ask your teacher for suggestions) •humor magazines •movies •comic strips •political cartoons •any other appropriate source As you begin your analysis, ask yourself: What human traditions, attitudes, or customs does this piece mock or make fun of? For example, your satire may be making fun of formal government, certain laws, popular trends or fads, or a political leader. If you can answer that question clearly, you can be sure that you have located a satire. Make sure it is not just something funny; recall the difference between satire and comedy. Once you have found your example of satire, begin filling in the Graphic Organizer. You may copy and paste into a document, print and fill in by hand, or make your own organizer with the same criteria. Refer back to our Gulliver’s Travels example to see a Completed Graphic Organizer. Your analysis will be evaluated according to the Grading Rubric for Option B. Whether you choose to create a satire or analyze one, you will see how a good laugh not only changes someone’s mood but also skillfully promotes change in our society
