A mid ocean ridge is formed when the crust is moving apart. So the magma goes up in the crack and will cool down on contact with the water. It's best explained in this image: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mid-ocean_ridge_topography.gif A fault is created when places are scratching along eachother, which is seen in process 2 So i guess you'll know the answer now :)
