MEDAL AND FAN A 500-lb. pile driver is raised to a height of 12 feet, then dropped. ________ft-lbs of work is done on the pile driver in raising it. The increase in the pile driver's potential energy is ________ft-lbs. What is the maximum kinetic energy the pile driver will have after it is released is _________ ft-lbs.

@chmvijay @thomaster

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

what u think the answer would be:)

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

how?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

W = Fd = mgd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

srry alll wrong! i don't know how to do it!!

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

Potential Energy = Weight x Height.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

work done is mgh=stored potential energy,all things have to be taken in fps system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the increased or stored potential energy will be as same as the kinetic energy..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6000 the answer of the 1st

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i don't know how to do the others

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

Workdone = F *d = Mass * gravityconstant*d = 500lbs *9.8 *12 this will be same for second :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey guys,you are doing all wrong..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who's right??

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

the question itself is getting miss dude :) let you tell then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you all have to take the value of g=32.17ft/s^2..the answer will be 193020

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

yaaaa that i do agree :) thanks for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both of you take the mks value of g,while using other thinngs in FPS system.

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

LOL ITs better to us SI SYSTEMS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes,then the mass and height is also be taken in SI system.just dont let others to learn the wrong thing.hey pay respect,no racial comment,you fool.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the 1st one is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 1st one is 6000 the 2nd is 60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iribeiro all the answer will be same,the work done is the measurement of stored potential energy and also gaining kinetic energy,because the energy is constant in all that process,we are assuming it as a closed system,where there is no energy lost.ok?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

@thomaster @hba @jhonyy9 @UnkleRhaukus @Luigi0210 @nincompoop @e.cociuba @Nurali @robtobey

OpenStudy (aaronq):

who measures anything is lbs, you murikan or something

OpenStudy (aaronq):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess the question is not correct.
