After you get this, P(x) = (x - 1)(x + 2)(x - 5) are you supposed to do anything or do i need to do something else like simplify it or whatever?

What does the question you are trying to answer ask?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im supposed to find the polynomial function of 1, -2, and 5. i got to P(x) = (x - 1)(x + 2)(x - 5) but im not sure if there is more to it. I dont quite understand what i need to do and the person helping me went offline so im stuck.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if you are trying to find the polynomial function that usually entails having all the functions foiled into one equation of Ax^3 + Bx^2 + Cx + D. With A, B, C, and D as constants. Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really. i just learned this but being online schooled i dont understand it well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean to just simplify/distribute ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so we can start just for now to ignoring the (x-5). We need to do 4 multiplications to find out the answer to (x - 1) * (x + 2) |dw:1375310450272:dw| Then add the 1st + 2nd + 3rd + 4th and then we can multiply the (x-5) back in afterwards.
