Well the factor you are scaling CD by is a negative 3. So it should not make a positive number.

But how would a line segment have a negative length? @Arfney

Because you have to label a reference point which is the 0 point. From that reference point the answer is in the negative direction.

Well if you scale 2 by -3 then it is just simple multiplication 2 * 3 * -1 which would be -6.
