Mary has 5 more dimes than nickels. Her coins are worth more than 1.60. At least how many nickels does she have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d = 5 + n .10d + .05n < 1.60

I got 10 nickels.. @tabby2014

I messed up in my equation above, it should be > not < sorry So, I think it should be 8 because if n = 8 then d = 13 and if you substitute those for the bottom equation: .10(13) + .05(8) > 1.60 1.70 > 1.60

If she had one less nickle, her change would only be 1.55, that's why it can't be less than 8

ohhh...okay

Hope that helped!!
