find the solutions to the systems of nonlinear equation @ivettef365 @primeralph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (abb0t):

plug in the y=2x into your bottom equation, you will have \(x^2+(2x)^2=15\) \(\Rightarrow\) \(x^2+4x^2=15\) now solve for "x".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know from the first equation that y=2x, so lets substitute 2x in for y in the second equation: \[x^2 + (2x)^2 = 15\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i solve x^2+4x^2=15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t ?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

yES?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Now, you have \(x^2+4x^2=15\) \(\Rightarrow\) \(5x^2=15\) now, divide by 5 to get \(x^2=\frac{15}{5}\) and square root both sides to get \(x= \pm ?\) where "? is the anwer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

square root 3?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plus or minus square root of 3
