If the perimeter of a square is 48 miles, what is its area?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so if we use 48 and split into 2 equal pieces, for the length and width what does that give us?

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

the square have all equal sides, perimeter is the addition of the sides so to find the length of one side divide 48/4

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

A = s^2, after you find side the you square it and get area

Thanks
