Danika has saved enough money to pay cash for a used car. She wants to buy a car that costs $5,500 before taxes. If she will be charged 6% sales tax, what is the total amount she will pay for the car?
What you have to do to put the sales tax together is by first converting the percent to a decimal and in which you will get 0.06. Then you will have to multiply $5,500*6. That will make your total.
@calculusxy Thanks so thats.. 33,000
@calculusxy that can't be right.. I don't have that answer in my choices..
You had to move the decimal two placed to the left because it is 0.06.
@calculusxy Oh sorry I got confused when you said just 6.. let me see.. 330..
It was a typo. I meant that it was $5,500*0.06. It was my fault.
@calculusxy that cant be right either..
Why?
Can you give me the options?
@calculusxy I dont have that.. my choices are.. $5,170 $5,830 $5,851 $6,100
Wait I will give you the way.
So what you had to do is that you were to use the product and add it up to the price without the sales tax. Meaning that you were to add $5,500+$330=x.
@calculusxy $5,830 ?
Yes.
@calculusxy ty
