Find the sum. (13x2 + 5x) + 8x2 = a.26x2 b.26x5 c.20x2+5x d.21x2+5x

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

13x^2+5x+8x^2 21^2+5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where do you get the 8 from ?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

as i have said, just add the like terms :) and you are all good to go

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

i was just rewriting the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you add like terms ?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

just add the numbers with the like variables. x^3 goes with other x^3 and x^2 goes with the other x^2, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like 13^2 ?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

right 13x^2 goes with 8x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would add 13x^2+8x^2 but id really put 13^2+8^2 to get my answer ?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

but if you add the two, you get 24^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i put this in a calculator

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

when you are finding the sum in this, you are really just simplifying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i just add 13+8 ? to get my answer ?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

yes but don't forget the variables. Your final answer for this problem is \(21x^2+5x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank's you Have Helpedd me alot !! (:

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you are welcome :)
