The distance h a body will move in free fall is expresses by formula h=1/2gt^2. If g = 980 centimeters per second squared, and t= 20 seconds the distance is?

plug in the values and calc...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did...but my answer comes close...but doesn't match the given numbers...I am missing a step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.9800 cent. B. 49000 cent. C. 196000 cent. D 368000 cent. I am coming up with 19600. I can't find what I am doing wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're off by a factor of 10. 20^2 = 400, 1/2 of 980 is 490. 490 x 400 = 196000

Oh my sequence was wrong ....amazing...thank you...I figured that would be the answer...but bothered me on why I was off. Thank you for your help
