The solutions to the inequalities 0≤x≤2,0≤y≤1, and y≤−12x+32 form a polygonal region in the plane. How many sides does this polygon have?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered graphing the lines? Having you considered finding their intersections?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i graphed the lines and i figured it was three but the correct answer is f ive. i just dont know how to get 5

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Are you forgetting the x-axis and the y-axis? It's not a closed polygon without those.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i included them

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That does not make sense. You should have x = 0 x - 2 y = 1 y = 0 That's four. Now add the last line and it should cut off a corner and make the 5th side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it! thank you

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Good work!
