Well it's not cloning or extinction for sure, I hope you agree with that. Conjugation only contributes to sexual reproduction (because bacterial conjugation is transfering genes between bacteria, which is the equivalent of sexual reproduction) Conjugation, transduction (transfer of genes via virus), mutation (you probably know what this is) and short generation times all contribute to genetic diversity.
