Hi, could someone please explain how they got the answer to this please
Q) Expand and Simplify y=(x-5)² - (x-1)²

My answer was 2x² - 8x + 24 but the correct answer in the textbook is 24 - 8x. Can anybody please explain why?

parentheses when you subtract

$$x^2-10x+25-(x^2-2x+1)$$ is the first step

combine like terms, get the books answer
