lets start suppose the box has x sweets
so you eat 1 ,
how many left now ?

you gave 2/3 so 2(x-1)/3
remaining with 1(x-1)/3 which is equal to 1
therefore x-1/3 -1 =1 is equal to x-1-3/3 = 3/3 (common denominator)
3x-3-9=9
3x=21
therefore x = 7 smallest number of sweets to start with
