10x+4=5x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well start by getting all the x's on the same side so subtract 5x from both sides 5x + 4 = 5 now to get x by itself we will subtract 4 from both sides 5x = 1 now just divide by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's exactly what I did. I tried to check my answer and it wasn't adding up.. Thank you!! :)

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooo I was dividing it wrong.. I now got .2

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Good. 0.2 or (1/5) is the value of x. Good job, robz.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I can leave it as 1/5? ok that's what I was thinking of doing also.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Yeah. Since 0.2 and (1/5) are equal. :)
