same as before, use the ratio for the corresponding sides notice 9 on the smaller one correspondes to BC on the bigger one, BC = 20.25 and 5 on the smaller one, corresponds to "y" on the bigger one thus \(\bf \cfrac{9}{20.25}=\cfrac{5}{y}\) solve for "y"
The 20.25-in. side in the left figure corresponds to the 9-in. side in the right figure. The y-length side in the left figure corresponds to the 5-in. side in the right figure. \( \dfrac{20.25~in.}{9~in.} = \dfrac{y}{5~in.} \) Solve the proportion for y by cross multiplying.
