Sam solved a multiplication problem as shown below. He didn't get it right. What did he do wrong? Identify and correct Sam's mistake. 12.03×0.76=? 12.03 ×0.76= 7218 +84210= 914.28

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

I already answered that over here: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/51fffed1e4b05ca784200c75

It didnt make sense

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

The question didn't make sense. LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's why I fixed it

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

12.03×0.76=? 12.03 ×0.76 ------------- 7218 +84210 --------- 914.28 The reason it's wrong is that the decimal place was placed incorrectly in the final result.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

12.03×0.76=? 12.03 ---> 2 decimal places ×0.76 ---> plus 2 decimal places = 4 decimal places ------------- 7218 +84210 --------- 9.1428 ---> this number needs to have 4 decimal places, not 2.

Thanks, mathstudent. :D

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

wlcm

kms13 - you should state problems a lot more clearly:(see attached) and shouldn't the 84210 actually be 8421?
