equation for horizontal line passing through (-9,2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

horizontal is the x i mean :/ out of (-9,2) what is the x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesnt say what it x, i got y=2x for the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that line is not horizontal :( we need a horizontal line think of it like this : when you draw a grid when you draw your x and y axis you are drawing 1 horizontal line and one vertical line where x axis = horizontal line y axis = vertical line so write this as a equation all you have to do is set x or y equal to something to get your vertical or horizontal line so in our case we have (-9,2) and we are looking for a horizontal x = -9 y = 2 remember our x is the horizontal so we need to set x = -9 and that will be our answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so if thats our answer, how will i write it in slope intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats how you write it, because no matter how many y's you plug in your x will never change which gives us a slope of 0 but also gives us a horizontal line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you.

no problem :)
