do you know the pythagorean theorem? a^2 + b^2 = c^2

OpenStudy (phi):

the c is the longest side. a and b are the "legs" replace the letters with the lengths they gave you . what do you get ?

A is 10?

OpenStudy (phi):

side AC, (the fence) is the longest side. AC is 10 long in the formula a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (the most famous formula in math!) c stands for the longest side. so replace c with 10 a^2 + b^2 = 10^2 (btw, 10^2 means 10 times 10) now a and b are the legs (which is which does not matter) choose a to be the leg you know. what do y replace a with in the formula (what number?)
