Under which of the following transformations is ΔCAB the image of ΔQPR? http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/51a55cede4b0aa1ad888393f-lana.831-1369791752161-geom_21s_fig06.jpg
a. reflection over the x-axis b. rotation over the y-axis and ℓ1 c. reflection over the y-axis d. rotation over the x-axis and ℓ1
The best way to see it is to cut up the triangles and see if you can get the image by rotation or reflection. If it is a rotation, you will find the angle easily. If it is a reflection, you will see about which line/axis the reflection is performed. Alternatively, you can compare the coordinates of the point CAB which are transformed to QPR, i.e. C->Q, A->P, B->R, and figure out the transformation by equations, e.g.. reflection about the x-axis, (x,y) -> (x,-y) reflection about the y-axis, (x,y) -> (-x, y) reflection about the line y=x, (x,y) -> (y, x) rotation about the origin by 90 degrees, (x,y) -> (-y, x) rotation about the origin by 180 degrees (x,y) -> (-x, -y) etc.
the original image would be QPR or would it be CAB ? confused by the wording a little
According to the question, CAB is the image of QPR.
thats what i thought also
Good!
