Write an appropriate inverse variation equation if y = 10 when x = 5

@Jasmineflvs

OpenStudy (jasmineflvs):

well what's x times two...the equation would be y=2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= 2 over x?

OpenStudy (jasmineflvs):

??? what

OpenStudy (jasmineflvs):

oh it's an inverse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all the multiple choice are fractions.. so i was asking would it be y=2 over x

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, inverse variation means y = (SOME CONSTANT)/x so what's that constant? we dunno but we know that when x = 5, y = 10 thus \(\bf y = \cfrac{n}{x} \implies 10 = \cfrac{n}{5}\) solve for "n" to get the "constant" of variation
