hero (hero):

Something appears to be missing here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need to find the high and the base of the triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

height

hero (hero):

I'm confident that something is missing in the problem you posted unless it is a right triangle which it doesn't appear to be.

hero (hero):

Is the triangle a right triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is dotted lines that the teacher put to make it a right but idk

hero (hero):

No one will be able to help you unless you post everything.

|dw:1375855613575:dw| is it something like this, you're trying to draw?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea but he used dotted lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may be you wanna try drawing again..or posting a screen shot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

hero (hero):

Are you sure that's correct as written?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i even looked it over again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im so lost on all of this math stuff

hero (hero):

If it is correct as shown, then you should be able to use the formula for area of a triangle to solve: \[\text{Area}_{\triangle} = \frac{bh}{2}\]Inputting the proper values, you get: \[180 = \frac{(4x-16)(2x)}{2}\]

hero (hero):

Now all you have to do is just solve for x properly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you i got it right thanks for the first steps
