Explain relationship between thermal conductivity and thermal behaviour of glass , plastic and wood

OpenStudy (festinger):

Thermal conductivity is basically how well a item conducts heat. The higher this value, the faster heat gets transferred. Take metal, which has a high value for thermal conductivity. When you touch it, heat is rapidly conducted away from your hand, making metal feel cool. Insulators, on the other hand, have low thermal conductivity. Heat is transferred slowly away from your hand.
