the effects of medical marijuana on me and the community

One of the things you can look at in the pro side is that there is a facility in Humbolt, CA (if I recall right) where they are using Marijuana to end Heroin addiction.

Another thing to argue for is not to make Marijuana absolutely legal, but rather just change it from a Category I to a Category II. Why? Because Cocaine is legal, and in every hospital and many doctor's offices, but Marijuana is illegal and therefore the research is spotty and more controversial. A lot of people do not realize that Cocaine is legal. All things from Category II through V controlled substances are simply controlled, so their sale and use is regulated in different ways. Category I, by federal law, has no medical use and is therefore illegal. It includes things like date rape drugs,highly addictive substances, and Marijuana. Cocaine, Opium, and many other things are lower down the category list and may be legally used by any professional with the proper licenses.

By taking that second tactic, you make it clear that there are a lot of drugs people think are illegal, but they are not. They are just controlled. Then you put forward that due to the valid medical uses of Marijuana, with cited examples, that it should be in this list and not as a Cat I illegal substance.
