a group of 7 basketball players are sitting on the bench during half time. How many possible ways can they be arranged?

hero (hero):

The players can be arranged 7! ways: \[7! = (7)(6)(5)(4)(3)(2)(1)\]Multiply to find the exact number of ways.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is 49 right?

hero (hero):

There's no way you get 49 from multiplying all those numbers. It'll be much higher.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. i got it now. there is infinitely many ways to arrange the players!

hero (hero):

How did you arrive at that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because i multiplied 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 by 7 and it was way too many.. am i correct? im trying..

hero (hero):

Just because it is more than you expect, that doesn't mean it isn't the exact answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my choices are a.49 b.5040 c.497 d.infinitely many ways

hero (hero):

Have you tried actually multiplying the numbers yet?

hero (hero):

In order for there to be infinitely many ways, there would have to be infinitely many players, but there are only seven players.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b.5040

hero (hero):

:)
