x = miles driven
75 + 2*x = 80 + 1,5*x
x = 10 miles

Here is how you solve it
75 + 2*x = 80 + 1.5*x
2*x - 1.5*x = 80-75
0.5*x = 5
x = 5/0.5
x = 10

-75        -75
     2x  =5+1.5x
-1.5x         -1.5x
.5x=5
.5x/.5   =  5/.5
