You're right, it's fiber We can't digest fiber but still it helps to keep bowel movements regular Also carcinogens (cancer causing agents) bind to fiber which can prevent cancer. Fiber is a carbohydrate but it's not broken down so it doesn't raise blood sugar levels (which is benificial for diabetics)
