Which statement best explains why Henry David Thoreau would protest the Mexican-American War but support the actions of John Brown at Harper's Ferry? Thoreau wanted strongly to dismantle all government. Thoreau was against government action but for individual action. Thoreau was opposed to violence of any kind, whatever the cause. Thoreau based his opinions on whether he thought each cause was just.
