Simplify the expression 5x − (3x^2 + 9x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's (-3x-4)x or -x(3x+4)

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

− (3x^2 + 9x) When you are subtracting like that, the sign changes. 3x^2 becomes a negative. The addition becomes subtraction. So now it would look like: 5x - 3x^2 - 9x. Combine like terms: 5x + (-9x) = -4x. Now it looks like: -3x^2 - 4x.

@GoldPhenoix do you mind helping me with two pre-cal questions ?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Sorry Love. I did not learn pre-calc. I'm only 12. >_> So don't expect much from me.

It's Okay.
