Calculate the distance traveled by sound if it travels 1,500 m/s in seawater for 52 seconds.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

distance = speed*time

OpenStudy (kainui):

If you travel at a speed of 60 miles per hour for 1 hour, you know you've gone 60 miles right? Now imagine going the same speed for half an hour, then you must have gone half the distance, and only gone 30 miles. How about 2 hours? You had to go double the distance, 120 miles right? Now you can see how this formula that agent smith has given you works. Just think in terms of REAL things. This is a REAL life scenario that you can reason through and never have to remember a formula for ever.

OpenStudy (tammy18):

Distance= speed x time =(1500)(52) = 78000 m
