help! given two point M&N on the coordinate plane, find the slope of MN, and state the slope of the line perpendicular to MN. M(9,6) N(1,4)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

to find slope use formula y2 - y1 ------- x2 - x1

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

you have (x1,y1) - > (9,6) and (x2,y2) -> (1,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope=6-4 >2 > 1 ----- -- ---- 9-1 > 8 > 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the slope is going to be the negative reciprocal of 1/4 making the slope of the perpendicular -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then figure out the rest :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you'll still need to find b (the y intercept)
