True or False a function may assign more than one output value to one of its input values
a, b, c, and d
lier D. is a circle
it's the function of a line which is a circle were you only after a particular type of function...?
yes but is doesnt pass the vertical line test
Di is a circle and is not a function
A fails the verticle line test (its looks like a x pattern)
B is a line and C is parabola, both are functions
same thing wont pass the vertical line test it touches twice
this is what it looks like if you plot it... hyperbolic function or something similar x^2 + y^2 =1 is function of a circle, my bad
whats the vertical line test?
True or False a function may assign more than one output value to one of its input values
@jack1 imagine moving a vertical line left to right, along the x-axis. If the line ever intersects the function more than once, it's not a function.
imagine a line parallel to to the y-axis, a function only passes that line once throughout its range
so ur telling me parabolas aren't functions...? cubics? quadratics? @agent0smith
they are
Would a vertical line intersect a vertical parabola more than once?
if it was a horizontal parabola it certainly would
Thus a horizontal parabola is not a function.
True or False a function may assign more than one output value to one of its input values false.
gotcha, cheers understand now
