For 3D I'd say Autodesk MAYA is one of the best.

Honestly, I would use photoshop, or Adobe. Thats what i use and its amazing:) I also use a Wacom tablet too. There pretty exspensive but it does amazing work.

You can do a little bit of 3d modelling and animation in the newer versions (the newer the better) of Photoshop also. I find some parts easier, specially when Anime related.

Photoshop is definitely the best at what you want. It's what all the professionals use. it's just great. Just combine photoshop with this: http://www.stencyl.com/

It's real easy to make animations on Photoshop.. you don't even have to use that stencyl website. Photoshop has a thing called "Timeline" (the older versions called it "animation" but they changed it to Timeline) and it presents you the option to have as many slides as you want and you of course make an animation that way.

lol it was my FIRST time making anything on photoshop so no making fun of me D: it was something I made for a friend.. it was his birthday so i drew him, myself, and of course spongebob and patrick cause he loved them.

SO in comparison between mine and this person's animation.. you can see I used very minimal positions on my characters. I drew only 2 different expressions and movements for the characters.. if I would of put more effort into it and made more expressions and movements then of course it would of looked a lot more convincing and more of an animation like this gif above.

also, it all depends on how well you do the animation.. as you can see my friend didn't do that well on his game.. it was the first time he ever made anything as well.

Practice makes perfect though. once you get the hang out drawing on photoshop you can make the most amazing and professional animations ever.

I wouldn't suggest to use PhotoShop for creating animated movie. MAYA or Flash works much better for that.

Photoshop does have the ability to create an animation. I just personally saved my animation as a gif. But you can save your animations in video format on photoshop.

That's how my friend was able to make that youtube video.

And if you have trouble with that you can always combine Photoshop with a different program.

Adobe Photoshop is software designed for photo editing. It has an animation feature that is meant to produce animated images, not movies. Therefore, you can't create professional quality animated videos in Photoshop. Adobe flash is a program designed for creating animated movies, just like Autodesk Maya and anime studio.
