Can anyone tell me what was the spirit of the British Army in the American Revolution?

Beginning of the American Revolution: "We're totally going to give these rebels a lesson.
Middle of the American Revolution: Annoying rebels, just give up!
Near the end of the American Revolution: Alright! We give up! We will not afford to waste our money on these stinky rebel.

By the way, rebel means people patriot. There's people who are loyal to the British, while there's people who "hated" the british, patriot.
