can some one help me by walking me by step by step? [8.04] What are the factors of 3x2 + 13x + 4? (3x + 1)(x + 4) (3x + 4)(x + 1) (3x − 4)(x + 1) (3x − 1)(x + 4)

Help me please!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. think of two numbers that when multiplied, you have 3. and think of two numbers that when multiplied, you have 4.

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

haha no fair well its multiple choice...just distribute each option and see if its correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for x squared term, you can only have 1 and 3 to yield 3. And for a constnat term ( that one with no letter beside) can have only 1 and 4 to yield 4. one of the two numbers from x term multiplied by one of the number on y term is added to another number from the x term multiplied by another term of the y term to give 13.

and when you do that, you get (3x+1)(x+4)

I see now thank you
